Leica MobileMatriXLeica MobileMatriX is a field solution for the interactive processing, visualization and maintenance of survey data.Product Information
Leica MobileMatriX directly integrates survey related data collection and processing functionality into ArcGIS®. Leica MobileMatriX can be used in field and in the office, providing a consistent, intuitive user interface. Furthermore, it is no longer required that the survey data is processed in an external software since Leica MobileMatriX integrates all data processing within the GIS. Leica MobileMatriX is the perfect software for feature data collection and management and computation and storage of survey data based around the geodatabase from ESRI. Leica MobileMatriX is available in three editions: Standard, Professional and on ArcGIS®. The Leica MobileMatriX Standard Edition software is ideal for typical data collection tasks. With a simple user interface based on Leica Geosystems and ESRI interface design, you can collect point, line, or polygon features including attribute information with high performance and productivity. The Leica MobileMatriX Professional Edition software offers everything that the Standard version offers, and furthermore it supports disconnected editing technology from ESRI, the complete ArcGIS® database model and many more features. It is ideal for data maintenance tasks - disconnected from the network environment with the ability for in the field data collection and design using the checked out features - especially for companies working with an ESRI enterprise database in the office. The Leica MobileMatriX on ArcGIS® Edition runs as an extension on any ESRI ArcGIS® Desktop product (ArcView, ArcEditor, ArcInfo) with version 9.0 (SP3), 9.1 or 9.2 , providing:
The usage of ArcGIS® as platform for Leica MobileMatriX ensures a seamless dataflow between field and office and vice versa. Quality and completeness control is moved from office to field, complex and cost-intensive data conversion, as well as data redundancy is avoided with Leica MobileMatriX. A Leica MobileMatriX user is any person responsible for managing and collecting spatial information, making measurements in the field to create and update maps, plans and databases suitable for:
Top Nowadays many organizations are using digital data in office databases managing the spatial data. The collection of this spatial data and keeping it up-to-date is a big challenge for every organization.Using LEICA MobileMatriX you simply collect field data as normal, but now when you are leaving the site your plan is complete and ready for client delivery, a true Field To Finish solution. LEICA MobileMatriX has standardised interfaces and the latest add-on modules to allow efficient, loss-free data transfer to other GIS and CAD systems. Use Leica MobileMatriX in the field to collect features as well as attributes and GPS/TPS data directly to the ArcGIS geodatabases. SolutionWhile working with ArcGIS – Leica MobileMatriX uses same database formats as ESRI – no need of data conversion, just edit your data in your existing databases. Simple import and export functions allow the execution of complicated projects from preparation, planning and data transfer in the office, to the graphically supported and thereby error free field surveying, and finally the creation of CAD drawings as well as update of GIS databases. Download a PDF for supported data formats. Top When you want to collect spatial information in the field, existing GPS or TPS data collection systems require feature coding on the data collectors which must then be converted into the GIS system and partly redrawn in the office.LEICA MobileMatriX uses exactly the same data structures that are used in the GIS in your office, allowing a bi-directional and seamless dataflow between office and field. SolutionNow you can do both feature and survey data collection with the LEICA MobileMatriX feature data collection technology. Without coding - you directly create the according feature while you survey. LEICA MobileMatriX then automatically generates the correct graphics and features (Points, Lines, Polygons, tangent and 3-Point arcs, point symbols, …) and displays these immediately on the correct layer. Due to the fact it is creating multiple GIS objects on the fly, appropriate attributes can be added as well. Furthermore, you can work with as many features as you like simultaneously. Top Surveyors traditionally work with paper maps and paper-based field books in the field. Such techniques have several disadvantages, including hard handling, updating in the office, hardly usable in bad weather conditions. With LEICA MobileMatriX, surveyors continue to take maps in the field, but in digital form, as background maps in LEICA MobileMatriX. This functionality provides significantly enhanced usability for surveyors making their daily work easier. SolutionThe Tablet PC's pen not only replaces the mouse when using editing tools but can also be used to create new polygon or line features. When creating a polygon feature with digital ink, LEICA MobileMatriX can automatically complete the geometry if the segments don't close. Furthermore, notes and sketches added to the map using digital ink can be committed as a graphic or recognized as text. And you place any kind of map as digital information (raster) in the background map. The raster display technology in LEICA MobileMatriX allows you to display unlimited background maps simultaneously. The supported raster formats are:
Top Whether you're working in the utility market needing accurate location information and attributes for your site work or in the surveying market needing to do a boundary survey, LEICA MobileMatriX provides universal support for all survey and utility work, or spatially related data acquisition.Discover the latest generation of surveying technology while working with Total Stations, GPS and TabletPC. Simply connect your GPS or Total Station to LEICA MobileMatriX and all instrument control, measurements, editing, visualisation and mapping are done completely, graphically and in real-time in LEICA MobileMatriX. In LEICA MobileMatriX you see everything on the map as it happens:
This "All-in-One" solution from Leica Geosystems provides a complete surveying solution for all kind of spatial work. LEICA MobileMatriX fully supports the data integrity - user dependent design of the data structure to meet the requirements of enterprise geographic information systems (GIS). Top Proofing the fieldwork requires nowadays an intelligent system that allows the storage of measurements, computations and defined limits. Finally a detailed report has to be produced from the stored data. Furthermore, a view to the future of data collectors shows that RTK GPS and Total Station data collection will be directly stored in your GIS environment! The integration of surveying information has never been so easy. The advanced architecture of LEICA MobileMatriX software and its components makes working with GPS RTK and conventional instrument (Total Station) data simple and effective. SolutionImprovement of workflows and productivity:
Top Many organizations wanted to have a specific User Interface design and specific tools for their specific workflows.LEICA MobileMatriX is using the ArcObjects framework. ArcObjects is a collection of software components with GIS functionality and programmable interfaces that is based on the COM architecture. LEICA MobileMatriX can be customized using COM-compliant programming languages such as Visual Basic, Visual C++, or Delphi. SolutionThe architecture of LEICA MobileMatriX:
Top Typos in the coordinates of the reference points, wrong tape measurements or GPS measurements without fixed ambiguities can result in a wasted day in the field. Expensive re-measurements are the result of these mistakes.Additionally it is highly important in order to provide a productive fieldwork to give full flexibility to user while working with survey equipment. A technology is provided that allows to correct mistakes in the field without any additional costs or loss of time for the surveyor and GIS data collector. SolutionThe Floating Island concept, introduced with LEICA MobileMatriX, gives the user the full flexibility to change the order of traditional fieldwork - there is no need anymore to do orientation first and then side-shot measurements. Therefore as a consequence, the user always has the possibility to change the input parameter of his computations - e.g. coordinates of their reference points – in order to recomputed existing computations which maybe wrong, because of e.g. typos in his reference points. This functionality is provided thanks to the technology of the Computation Network. Top By connecting level and GPS sensors simultaneously to Leica MobileMatriX, field crews can measure accurate locations with GPS and parallel they can update the less accurate height information with a level measured height – this process is called Height Modernization and is easily possible by the Multi-Sensor support in Leica MobileMatriX.The Height Modernization utilizes GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and TPS technology together with level instruments to improve all mapping, surveying and engineering activities and establish accurate and reliable heights – all within one mobile application. All this can be done with Leica MobileMatriX. The following examples show the importance of robust and reliable spatial data:
