PennDOT Bridge As-built
Cyrax was evaluated in a direct comparison against traditional surveying methods for (1) surveying a bridge and approaches and (2) delivering 2D as-built drawings for export into Microstation. Cyrax demonstrated >60% labor savings and provided greater detail. PennDOT bridge designers will also benefit from 3D visualization. PennDOT has recently acquired two Cyrax systems for use on a variety of survey applications.

Rockface Quantity Survey: PennDOT
In order to resolve a dispute over quantities of rock removed for road widening, PennDOT surveyed a steep rockface with Cyrax. PennDOT would have otherwise had to use total station and literally rappel down the rockface to place targets. Cyrax was able to survey the face remotely with better detail. Overall cost savings of >75% were projected using Cyrax. PennDOT has since acquired two Cyrax systems to aid in these and other challenging surveys.
